Abducted headmaster released

AIZAWL: The headmaster of a school, who was abducted by an unidentified men was released after leaders of Young Chakma Association negotiated with the kidnappers, police said here on Tuesday.

Kishore Rongya Chakma, headmaster of Silsury Upper Primary School in Mamit district along the Mizoram-Bangladesh border, was abducted by men claiming to be Chakma gang members on Saturday for ransom and was released last night, sources said. The abductors, who demanded Rs. 4 lakh as ransom, were identified as armed dacoits and not Chakma insurgents, police said. — PTI
