Team well prepared, says Upton

Bangalore: Indian team’s mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton said that defeating Australia in the coming series would help Anil Kumble’s men move closer towards being the best in the World.

“We want to win all the series that we play. It would be a big step to win this series. We are trying not to put too much pressure from within but it would be a fantastic step towards becoming the best team in the World,” Upton said on Monday.

Upton said that the team was well prepared. “One of the foundations of mental toughness is excellent preparation. It is like walking into an exam. If you have studied the whole book, you feel confident. If you have cut corners, there is no confidence. We have made sure that our preparations have been good so that when the players go out on the field, there are no surprises,” Upton said.

“We have a few strategies for individual players and the Australian team but essentially the focus is on Team India and the individuals in our team,” he added. — Principal Correspondent
