TIRUCHI: A large number of cadres of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), including women, staged a demonstration in front of the Khadi Craft in Junction to condemn the acute power crisis in the State. They also condemned the “maladministration” of the State Government.

Former minister D. Jayakumar led the agitation in which State MGR youth wing secretary Sivapathi, former minister and party rural district secretary K. K. Balasubramanian, urban district secretary Murugaiyyan, M. Paranjothi, MLA, former district secretary Mariyam Pitchai and others participated. Mr. Jayakumar and other leaders stated that the State Government had failed on all fronts. The indiscriminate power cuts had caused untold hardships to all sections of the society.

While a group of AIADMK cadres participated in the agitation carrying lanterns, another group brought garlanded TV sets and table fans to draw the attention of the people to the power crisis.
