HYDERABAD: Sticking to the script, the Telugu Desam’s core committee on Telangana briefed party president N. Chandrababu Naidu about how a majority of the party leaders favoured a pro-Telangana line, “if it is in the best interests of the party”. In a two-hour long meeting held at Mr. Naidu’s residence, the five members of the committee -- K. Yerran Naidu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Errabelli Dayakara Rao and K. E. Krishnamurthy -- left nothing to doubt about the views expressed by about 200 leaders and others. Sources said Mr. Yerran Naidu briefed him about the opinions expressed by party leaders hailing from three regions, including MPs, MLAs and MLCs. With the party having almost made up its mind to send pro-Telangana signal, ‘in tune with the wishes of the people of the region’ and go ahead with a tie-up with TRS, the discussion was on how to frame the stand and when to announce it. Some felt it should be announced immediately after debating it in the Polit Bureau scheduled tomorrow, while others felt the party should not take a hasty step and wait for the Congress’ move on Telangana. Dasara announcement?A member hailing from Telangana felt it could be announced on Dasara, the biggest festival in the region. A part of the discussion was also on sending a positive signal initially like announcing withdrawal of its representation against separate State it had submitted to the UPA committee headed by Pranab Mukherjee.
