YSR woos Chiranjeevi’s hit lyricist

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Film lyricist Ananta Sriram, who penned the theme song of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party, called on Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy at his office here on Monday.

The 24-year-old writer, who has nearly 140 Telugu songs to his credit, is a close relative of PRP leader and former Congress MP Ch. Harirama Jogaiah and hails from West Godavari district. The Chief Minister reportedly asked him to write songs for the Congress party’s election campaign.

Mr. Sriram was recently in the news for writing `Jaya Jaya Jayapradam, Subha Subha Subha Pradam”, the song that accompanies flag-hoisting of PRP, and is penning several other songs for the party.

The significance of his visit is that the lyricist is considered a good luck charm for Chiranjeevi as he wrote four songs for his films, ‘Stalin’ and ‘Andarivadu’, both of which were successful at the box office. Mr. Sriram later told reporters that, if approached, he was prepared to write songs for other parties too.
