Two killed as bus hits motorcycle

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Two youths were killed in a road accident in Adyar here on Sunday night.

Police said P.Sanjiv (27) and S.Deepan (26), both belonging to Kerala, and employed in a private firm in the city, were proceeding to Besant Nagar on a motorcycle when they were hit by a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus.

The duo came under the wheels of the vehicle and suffered grievous injuries.

Sanjiv died on way to the Royapettah Government Hospital.

Deepan died soon after admission.

“They were riding the motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner and took the wrong lane”, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunil Kumar said.

In a bid to avoid hitting another vehicle, they tried to swerve to the left when the accident took place, he said, adding that there was no median at that place.
