Doctors plan ‘total’ strike

HYDERABAD: The AP Government Doctors’ Association has decided to go on ‘total’ strike, including stoppage of emergencies. The date of strike will be decided on October 14, according to Putta Srinivas, APGDA president.

The decision to go on strike was taken at the emergency central executive and extended general council meeting of the association here on Monday. In a press release, Dr. Srinivas and other office-bearers said that the GO issued following the recent strike was not acceptable to the doctors as “the primary demand of time-bound promotions was kept aside.” Accusing Health Minister S. Chandrasekhar and Finance Minister K. Rosaiah of failing to honour the promise, they said doctors were ready to face the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) and resign from service.
