Holiday time for State staff

HYDERABAD: It’s holiday time for government staff for rest of the week. They only have to think of taking leave on Friday and they will be having six consecutive holidays including the long weekend of second Saturday and Sunday.

Starting from tomorrow, October 7 (Tuesday) which is ‘Durgastami’, employees have an optional holiday the next day i.e. on October 8 (Wednesday) for ‘Mahanavami’, the following day of October 9 is ‘Vijayadasami’, the main festival day. October 10 falls Friday and the next two days are weekend days.

Heavy rush

The impact of Dasara festivities are already being felt on the transport sector with the bus and railway stations teeming with people rushing to various destinations and all bus-train services packed to capacity with absolutely little chance of getting a reserved ticket for the next few days.

Pleasing change could be the usual chock-a-block traffic on the city roads easing a bit for some time at least.

But, the ones having fun will be the government employees and students, also having the first vacation of the academic year. Happy holidays it is!
