NCP youth wing march turns violent

KOCHI: Twenty-four persons, including three policemen, were injured as the protest march organised by Nationalist Youth Congress turned violent and police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

The march to Kanayannur taluk office was inaugurated by K. Muraleedharan, State president, Nationalist Congress Party. The trouble erupted after the inauguration.

The Ernakulam Town Central police arrested 18 persons, including K.C. Ramesh, district secretary, NYC, in connection with the incident. They were remanded for one day.
