Besides 15 surveillance cameras, six watch towers will come up in vulnerable areas

CHENNAI: Medical teams, fire tenders and ambulances will be kept ready in the T. Nagar area to meet emergencies during the festival shopping.

According to an official release, Commissioner of Police R. Sekar has instructed that a special police outpost be established at the Usman Road-Ranganathan Street junction.

Besides 15 surveillance cameras installed at vantage points, six watch towers would come up in vulnerable areas.

While ambulances would be positioned on Burkit Road and Panagal Park, steps had been taken to have medical teams comprising a doctor and paramedical staff at the Mambalam and Soundarapandianar Angadi police stations.

Photographs of habitual offenders would be displayed at 60 points as a precautionary measure.

Elaborate arrangements had been made to provide adequate parking (free and paid) in the area to facilitate shoppers using vehicles, the release said.
