Mintri gets the better of Rawal

NEW DELHI: Aayush Mintri of Punjab defeated the tenth-seeded Nischay Rawal of Chandigarh 7-6(4), 6-2 in the first round of the DSCL National mini-junior tennis championship at the DLTA Complex here on Monday.

The 11th seeded Madhurja Dutta of Assam was also shown the door by lucky-loser Naveen Anand of Haryana at 6-3, 6-0 in another first round encounter.

In the girls event, Tarannum Handa has been seeded No.1 and given a bye in the first round.
