TD alleges irregularities in fertilizer distribution

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: Telugu Desam Party’s Proddatur constituency convenor Mallela Linga Reddy and about 200 farmers staged a 70 km long ‘pada yatra’ from Rajupalem in Proddatur constituency to Kadapa and called on Collector M.T. Krishna Babu in the Collectorate on Monday.

Mr. Linga Reddy alleged irregularities in fertilizer distribution and demanded that the Collector institute an inquiry. He alleged that Congress leaders cornered the fertilizers with a nexus with officials.

Disputing the officials’ claims that 1.44 lakh bags of fertilizers were distributed in Proddatur Assembly constituency, which amounted to two and half bags per acre, the TDP leader said the farmers did not get even half a bag per acre.

The Collector assured to order an inquiry into the alleged irregularities and initiate action. He assured steps to ensure fertilizer distribution to all the farmers. Mr. Linga Reddy sought measures to supply adequate Bengal gram seeds in the district in the Rabi season.

TDP MLC M. Venkatasiva Reddy, State secretaries Amer Babu and Redyam Venkatasubba Reddy and district vice-president S. Subhan Basha received Mr. Linga Reddy and farmers at Vinayaknagar, when they reached Kadapa.
