Workshop at NIT-K

MANGALORE: A two-day workshop on “Concrete for coastal environment” will begin at the National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K) at Surathkal on Tuesday.

Resource persons from reputed institutes will deliberate on various topics, including concrete and environment, wet and set concrete, strength and durability of concrete, special ingredients and concrete, waste utilisation in concrete and concrete under fire, blast and impact, a press release from the Department of Civil Engineering, NIT-K, said.

Koji Takewaka, a professor of Kagoshima University, Japan, will speak on “Design, construction and maintenance of concrete structures in marine environment specified in Japan Society of Civil Engineers standard specifications” and Cristoph Mahrenholtz, a professor of University of Stuttgart, Germany will speak on “European approvals of concrete anchors – qualification procedures and tests” on Tuesday.
