Karunanidhi speaks to Manmohan

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday that India should summon the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India and condemn the genocide of Sri Lankan Tamils in the island nation.

This was conveyed to Dr. Singh when he telephoned Mr. Karunanidhi around 11.30 a.m. and discussed the Sri Lankan problem.

A release stated that Mr. Karunanidhi explained to Dr. Singh the Sri Lankan Army’s conduct and the genocide that was going on.

He wanted the Prime Minister to intervene and strive for a peaceful solution to the crisis. He also wanted the incidents of shooting at Indian fishermen to end. Dr. Singh assured Mr. Karunanidhi that he would take all steps possible .
