Man acquitted after eighteen years

Jalandhar: Eighteen years after a man was booked for dacoity in a ‘Dera’ (religious camp) in Punjab, a designated TADA court on Monday acquitted him for want of evidence.

The man -- identified as Mahinder Singh Titu -- was produced before the designate TADA court of Additional Sessions Judge Buaji Sansi.

The judge, after listening to the arguments of both the defence and the prosecution, ordered acquittal of Titu due to lack of evidence against him.
