Three killed in road accidents

Kozhikode: Three persons including two college students were killed in two separate accidents at Vadakara in the district on Monday morning.

The police said Twalhath Sooppy, 19, a second year BSc (Computer Science) student of Meyppayur Salafi College and Aflaf Abdulla, 20, a second year BSc (Chemistry) student of the same college were killed when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a tanker lorry at Narayana Nagar junction. The accident occurred at around 5.30 a.m. The students were reportedly proceeding to Chombal harbour to buy fish for a college function. Twalhath died on the spot while Aflaf died while being taken to the Government Hospital at Vadakara.

In another accident, a pedestrian, K. Khaderkutty, was killed when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down at Azhiyoor Chungath.

This accident occurred around 5.30 a.m. The vehicle sped away. Local people took him to the Vadakara taluk hospital but the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, the police said.
