As Rahul slipped into the left canal of Jurala project, the doctor went to his rescue

MAHBUBNAGAR: Dr. C. Ramamohan, a civil surgeon at the district headquarters hospital, here, was feared drowned in the main left canal of the Jurala project on Monday afternoon.

Freak accident

According to information reaching here, Dr. Ramamohan, his son Rahul, 11, and his brother’s son, Santosh, 25, went to the Jurala Main Left Canal to perform pooja in the waters of the Krishna.

When Rahul accidentally slipped into the canal, the doctor jumped in to save him.

Following Santosh’s cries, farmers working in adjacent fields rushed to help and brought both the doctor and his son Rahul out of the waters.

However, Dr. Ramamohan died even as he was being rushed to the nearest hospital in a ‘108’ ambulance.

After a post-mortem examination in Atmakur hospital, the body was handed over to the shocked family members of the doctor.
