Let your creativity draw inspiration from running train

Students from Standard III to X can participate in the drawing competition


This year senior citizens too can participate in the competition

Those willing to join must obtain their tickets, the last date being October 9


PUDUCHERRY: How creatively stimulating a train journey is! Now here is an opportunity to sketch those ideas while travelling in a running train itself and win prizes for it too.

The annual drawing competition of Puducherry State Artists Society and Indian Railways will be held in a running train starting from the Puducherry railway station to Villupuram junction on October 12.

The competition in a running train comes as a means to honour the Indian Railways. Students from Standard III to X can take part in the competition and should come in their school uniforms, said a press release.

Following requests from elderly persons, senior citizens above 60 years can participate in the competition. All participants should bring materials for drawing such as pencil, crayons, colour pencils and sketch pens. Water colours should not be used in the competition.

Those willing to join can obtain tickets from the respective schools or from the following places: Sri Venkateswara Jewellers, 194, Bharathi Street, Sri Vidya Medical, 187, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Pondy Paper Mart, 20, Saint Therese Street and Madras Paper Mart, 193, Mahatma Gandhi Road on payment of Rs.70.

The last date for purchase of tickets is 6 p.m. on October 9.

On the day of competition, the participants should arrive at the railway station before an hour along with their tickets and obtain their drawing sheets.

The competition would start at 7.45 a.m. and end at 8.35 a.m. when the train reaches Villupuram, added the release.

At the end of the competition, participants can receive their certificates by producing the tickets.

Students should write their names, class and division along with the name of schools on the drawing sheet.

Three prizes would be given for each class and a total of 35 prizes would be distributed for the winners.

The date for prize distribution would be announced later, said the release.
