Basko Vom WolfenHaus steals the show

CHENNAI: German Shepherd ‘Basko Vom WolfenHaus’, owned by Vishwas Raj hogged the limelight in the 86th and 87th Championship Dog Show, organised by Madras Canine Club, at University Union grounds here on Sunday. ‘Basko’ was adjudged the ‘best in show’ in both the 86th and 87th championships and emerged the ‘best in show bred in India’ in both the championships.

Owned by S. Siddhartha, Pug ‘Canadian Indian Champion Perlin’s Quest for gold’ was adjudged the ‘second best in show’ in both the 86th and 87th championships. Irish Setter ‘Ch. Fleetwood’s Believe it or not’ owned by Kalaivani won the third place in the ‘best in show’ section of the 86th championship while Bull Mastiff ‘Packer Von Agrani’ owned by K.S. Balkrishna Setty bagged the third place in the ‘best in show’ of the 87th championship.

Ventra’s Ovation catches the eye

Dachshund (Std) Smooth ‘Ventra’s Ovation’ owned by P.S. Venkatesh was adjudged ‘the best puppy in show’ (86th championship) and German Shepherd ‘Suzana’ owned by I.P. Vijay Kumar emerged ‘the best puppy in show’ (87th championship).

The two shows attracted 276 entries comprising 36 breeds from all over India. N. Radhakrishnan and Mukul Vaid were the judges. Ms. Letika Saran, Additional Director General of Police (Administration) gave away the prizes. “This event is yet another feather in the cap of Madras Canine Club,” said Ms. Saran. — Principal Correspondent
