Spices’ sale launched

PERAMBALUR: Forest Minister N. Selvaraj launched the sale of subsidised spices at a function held at Veppanthattai recently. The scheme will benefit 1.55 lakh ration card holders in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government was fulfilling the ideals of Anna and Periyar by initiating new schemes for the welfare of poor and women.
The government procures ten kinds of spices and condiments at wholesale rate of Rs. 71.30 and provides the same to the people at Rs. 50. The same if purchased in open market would cost Rs. 98. Hence each card holders stands to benefit Rs. 48.
