Chairmen of ward panels

Visakhapatnam: Chairmen of the six ward committees of the GVMC were elected unanimously on Sunday. The ruling Congress and the TDP won three seats each.

S. Vasanta of TDP won the first ward committee comprising the wards one to six and 66 to 72; K. Appa Rao of Congress (ward 7 to 18); K. Venkata Rao of Congress (wards 19 to 30); G. Sambasiva Rao of TDP (wards 31 to 41 and 43 and 44); D. Satyanarayana of Congress (wards 42, 45 to 50 and 62 and 65); G. Venku Naidu of TDP won the committee for wards 51 to 61.

Fact-finding team

A fact-finding committee comprising representatives of various organisations on Sunday visited Dibbapalem where power and water supply have been disconnected. About 350 families refused to vacate Dibbapalem demanding better compensation package.
