“Sales in Andaman and Nicobar islands and in New Delhi are going on at a brisk pace” CHENNAI: To meet its Deepavali sales target, Co-optex has spread its wings in Karnataka by opening 10 External Retail Outlets (EROs) in different parts of Bangalore. These EROs will function till October 27 and Co-optex officials are competing with the famous ‘Mysore silk’ saris there to achieve the targeted figure of Rs 3.45 crore for this year, as against Rs 2.5 crore achieved last year. “We have six showrooms in Bangalore city and eight in different parts of Karnataka. Besides, we have opened 10 EROs. Though our annual sales target is Rs 9 crore, the Deepavali target is Rs 3.45 crore that is to be achieved in 45 days. We are confident of achieving it as brisk sales happen only during the end of October,” Co-optex Regional Manager R.M. Bhaskar told The Hindu on Sunday. According to Mr. Bhaskar, they have displayed silk saris ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 20,000 at the venues. On an average, silk saris priced between Rs 2,000 and 5,000 are preferred by the middle-class consumers. For the current year, Co-optex has set itself a sales target of Rs 150 crore as against Rs 125 crore achieved last year. Of the above target, over 40 per cent of the sale is expected to take place during Deepavali and 15 per cent during Pongal festival. “In the first six months of the current year, we have already achieved nearly 25 per cent of the targeted sale. The sales at Andaman and Nicobar islands and in New Delhi are going on at a brisk pace. Next week, we will commence a 10-day Deepavali exhibition-cum-sale mela in Goa, Chandigarh and in Chennai by setting up EROs,” said Co-optex chief general manager V. Gunasekaran.
