VISAKHAPATNAM: To mark the World Sight Day (WSD) on October 9, Sankar Foundation will organise a painting competition for school children and essay writing contest for women. According to Senior Manager K.S. Vinod Kumar, the aim is to create awareness on eye care among students and parents and society in general. This year’s WSD theme is “Eyes on the future- fighting vision impairment in later life” focusses on the ageing eye and vision impairment in older people. For the painting competition for students of Class 1 to 10 on October 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the topic is “My eyes and my world.” It will be held in two categories i.e, for the children in the age group of 5 to 10 years and 10 to 15 years. Entry is free. Drawing sheet will be provided. For registration, participants may call 9966613754 /0891-2891181 from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the essay-writing competition through email the topic is “Diabetics and eye care issues.” Participants should email their entries to sankar foundation@gmail.com The last date is October 9.
