Nassir Wajih retains title

NEW DELHI: Nassir Wajih of Railways retained the inter-Ministry chess crown after drawing the ninth round with compatriot P. Chackrapani.

Nassir gathered 8.5 points to emerge champion. Finance Ministry’s D.K. Chopra and Chackrapani scored an identical seven but Chopra bagged the second spot on the basis of a better progressive score.

Final standings (top five): Nassir Wajih (Railways) 8.5, D.K. Chopra (Finance) 7, P. Chackrapani (Railways) 7, A.K. Kalshyan (Agriculture) 6.5, Sunil Prabhat (Railways) 6.5.
