Bangalore: As Test cricket returns to the Chinnaswamy Stadium after ten months, and that too after a summer of the Indian Premier League glitz that had sceptics wondering about the five-day version’s longevity, there is some good news. The tickets for the Terrace Stand priced at Rs. 1000 per day was sold out within hours of the counters being opened on an overcast Sunday in the run up to the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series from October 9. The Terrace Stand tickets are the highest priced with the exception of corporate boxes and now fans have the option of purchasing in the lower brackets ranging from Rs. 50 to Rs. 400 per day. KSCA officials aver that the response has been good and it has also been kindled by the hype and intensity that is associated with matches between India and Australia. The Indian team will assemble here on Monday afternoon by 2 p.m. and have a practice session while Ricky Ponting’s men will arrive in the City from Hyderabad in the morning. Meanwhile Sourav Ganguly and R.P. Singh, playing for India ‘A’ in Chennai, are expected to join their teammates on Monday night. — Principal Correspondent
