Statues damaged at Krishnagiri, Mettupalayam

Staff Reporter

KRISHNAGIRI: Three statues of Mother Mary – two in Krishnagiri and one at Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district – were found damaged early on Sunday.

Police in both districts, however, claimed that the incidents did not trigger any communal tension.

According to police, two statues in the Our Lady’s High School at Melakondapalli of Tenkanikottai taluk in Krishnagiri were removed from the pedestal. One of the statues was found damaged on Hosur-Dhali Road where the school was located.

The other statue is missing.

At Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district, a small statue on the wall of a house was found damaged.
