Probe ordered into ‘miss-and-found’ treasury cash case
|
Incident occurred in district treasury
|
Ghaziabad: The District administration on Sunday ordered a magisterial probe into the “mysterious” missing of Rs 29 lakh from the government treasury here and its “recovery” within hours. District Magistrate Deepak Kumar Agarwal also directed to complete the investigation in 15 days.
The cash reported missing from the treasury in the district court premises on Saturday morning was found in the chest later in the day. “We will check out records and conduct a thorough inquiry so that the person(s) involved can be brought to book,” Mr. Agarwal said.
Ghaziabad SSP L Ravikumar said that a case had been registered in Kavi Nagar police station on Saturday on a written complaint of the treasury officials.
Though, the treasury officer Vimal Kumar later informed the police about the “recovery” of missing cash and requested the police to withdraw the case, authorities decided to go ahead with the case.
The Ghaziabad treasury office has been in the news in recent times after a scandal, in which judges were allegedly involved in misappropriation of Rs 7 crore, was exposed in February. -- PTI
