Construction of road under-bridge at Kishan Ganj at a cost of Rs. 56 crore also announced NEW DELHI: To ensure smooth flow of traffic in the Capital’s largest and busiest commercial and residential areas, senior BJP leader V. K. Malhotra on Sunday laid the foundation stone of a grade separator from Rani Jhansi Road to St. Stephen’s Hospital and also announced construction of road under-bridge at Kishan Ganj here. Prof. Malhotra said the road under-bridge at Kishan Ganj railway crossing would be constructed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi at a cost of Rs. 56 crore. He said the civic body had shown the way by investing Rs.700 crore on road improvement from its own resources. Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra said planning for construction of the grade separator had been going on for the past 15 years. “But the present regime finalised the planning in one-and-a-half years,” said Ms. Mehra. Leader of the MCD House Subhash Arya informed that the civic body will soon start construction of six-lane road under-bridge from the Azad market to Gulabi Bagh. To be constructed at a cost of Rs.173 crore, the flyover will be 1.6-km-long and is expected to be completed within two years. It will cover Rani Jhansi Road, Bara Hindu Rao, DCM Chowk, Azad Market, Barf Khana Chowk and reach St. Stephen’s Hospital.
