Rice millers warned
Staff Reporter
Kakinada: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar called upon the rice millers to cooperate in controlling the price of rice in the open market by making available BPT and Sona Masuri varieties at Rs. 18 a kilo and others for Rs. 14 per kilo in the 42 retail shops set by them. He warned of stern action against those giving bills of Rs. 18 on rice sold for Rs. 22 a kilo as it was a loss to the exchequer.
Addressing a meeting of the rice millers here on Sunday, Mr. Sasidhar said black marketing of rice would be dealt with seriously as it would result in artificial increase of price. The millers have to be honest in this regard.
Rice Millers’ Association president D. Bhaskar Reddy said the millers would extend their cooperation. Civil Supplies District Manager Narasimha Rao and others took part in the deliberations.
