RI for two chemists
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K. Chidananda on Friday sentenced two chemists to one-year rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 for manufacturing and distributing sub-standard drugs.
V.V. Rao, Executive Director of Veeras Pharmaceuticals, Chelluru in Vizianagaram district and S.K. Jawaharlal, proprietor of Ashok Pharmaceuticals, Visakhapatnam and Chennai, had manufactured and distributed sub-standard Clomax capsules (Amoxicillin, Claxacillin).
The samples were picked up from Nizams Chemists and Druggist situated in KGH in 2002 and the same were declared as ‘not of standard quality’ by the Government analyst.
