Kolar farmers lay siege to BESCOM office

KOLAR: “The unscientific power policy and irresponsible attitude of the Bharatiya Janata Party Government in Karnataka is taking the State to the age of the lantern,” said Holur Shankar, Kolar taluk unit president of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha. He was addressing protesters who laid siege to the BESCOM circle office here on Saturday protesting against the erratic power supply in the district, which was causing problems to the farmers and other sections of people. The suicide attempt by a farmer in Malur taluk, who had suffered crop loss due to frequent power failure, stands testimony to the grave situation on the power front in the district, he said. Scores of farmers reached BESCOM office where they sat in dharna.
