VISAKHAPATNAM: Sri Swamy Ayyappa Puja Mahotsavam will be organised on a grand scale at the A.S. Raja College grounds in city from November 17 to 23. Announcing this at a media conference here on Saturday, secretary of the organising committee, S.V. Ramanayya, said that the unique feature of the festival, conducted under the aegis of Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham, would be that the rituals would be on the same lines as at Sabarimala Sannidhanam in Kerala. Cultural programmes“There will be daily homams, Rudrabhishekam, Laksharchana puja and other rituals besides Annaprasadam for all. Cultural programmes will be conducted every evening besides Ayyappa bhajans and discourses. The traditional instrumental music of Kerala, chanting of Vedic hymns will also be organised,” he said. Vice-President of the organisers A. Venugopala Reddy said that the Mahotsavam would be a golden opportunity for women in the age group of 10 to 50 years who were not eligible to go to Sabarimala and old people who have difficulty in going all the way to Kerala. The organisers were also keen on providing free services in the areas of education and health, he stated. President Mohan Swamy and other office-bearers who included P.V.N. Murthy, G.V. Vasantha Rao, and Srinivas were present.
