40 houses torched during clashes in Assam

GUWAHATI: About 40 houses were set ablaze in group clashes in a village in northern Assam’s Udaluguri district under the Bodoland Territorial Council on Friday. Night curfew was clamped in Udaluguri.

Subhash Das, Principal Secretary, Home, told The Hindu that clashes had broken out at Bhalukmari and Mohanbari villages in the morning following rumours that a Bodo youth missing. Though he was later traced, people belonging to two communities gathered and set ablaze houses.
