Farmers protest pullout

Singur: Farmers who gave their land for the Tata Motors project blocked the Durgapur Expressway running beside the plant on Friday night in protest against the Tata’s decision to wind up the Nano project from Singur.

One side of the expressway was blocked by the protesters, who set ablaze tyres and raised slogans against those opposed to the project, police said.

As movement of vehicles along the arterial road came to a halt, police force kept watch from nearby. The blockade went on till late hours. — PTI
