Mysore: The three-day Dussera Games begin at the Chamundi Vihar Sports Complex here on Saturday. Over 1600 sportspersons from five divisions — Bangalore City, Bangalore Rural, Belgaum, Gulbarga and host Mysore besides Gen. Thimmaiah Academy of Adventure Sports will be vying for top honours. Mysore Division emerged overall champion in the last edition. The Beijing Olympics medallists — Abhinav Bindra (shooting) and Vijendra Singh (boxing) will be felicitated on the inaugural day. Bindra will inaugurate the Games. The organiser, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), has taken up the onus of making it an eventful Games. The Olympians from the State too will be honoured during the Games, while the four Mysoreans who have done the country proud — M.S. Thej Kumar, Girish Kaushik (both chess World champions) and V.
