MANNANAM: Host St. Ephrem’s HSS (Mannamam) bagged a double as it won the senior boys and sub-junior boys titles in Ephrem’s Trophy all-Kerala inter-school basketball tournament here on Friday. In a thrilling match which went into extra-time, St. Ephrem’s defeated St. Thomas HSS (Kozhencherry) 79-78 to win the final. In the girls’ final, GVHSS (Villadom) defeated Mount Carmel HSS (Kottayam) 54-40. St. Ephrem’s defeated KEHSS (Mananam) 51-50 in an exciting final. The results (finals): Boys: St. Ephrem’s HSS, Mannanam 79(Aby Sony 25, Chandu Das 19, Roby Thomas 10) bt St. Thomas HSS, Kozhencherry 78 (Richard Baby 22, J.Arjun 11, Nithin Paul Stephan 11). Semifinals: St. Thomas HSS, Kozhencherry 43 (Nithin Paul Stephan 10, Jomon Jose 10) bt St. Joseph HSS, Thiruvananthapruam 29 (Vineeth 15). Sub-junior boys: St. Ephrem’s, Mannanam 51 (Siju Pappachan 14, Willian Johnson 11) bt St. Thomas HSS, Kozhencherry 50 (Thomas Sunny 22, Jerin Johnson14). Girls: GVHSS, Villadom 54 (Griya Susan 18, Merlin Baby 14) bt Mount Carmel HSS, Kottayam 40 (Jain Mercella 18, Anila Augustine12).
