Vijay Kumar Malhotra NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, said on Friday that during distribution of tickets for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections the party would give priority to workers who are loyal, dedicated, have a clean image, and possess the capability of winning from their constituencies. “There is no question of any quota system for selection of candidates and the entire organisation from polling booth unit to the State level is united,” said Prof. Malhotra, addressing office-bearers of all 280 mandals or blocks and 16 districts, elected representatives of the Delhi Assembly, Municipal Corporation and Delhi Cantonment Board besides members of the State Council. Asserting that the BJP was an organisation of disciplined and dedicated workers, Prof. Malhotra, who is also the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said the people of Delhi want to bring an end to “ten years of misrule by the Congress” and it was time the party rose to meet their expectations in providing a clean alternative. Confident that the BJP would form the next government in Delhi after the Assembly elections, Prof. Malhotra said the polls would nevertheless be a big challenge. However, he added, all 11,000 polling booth level workers were prepared for the battle ahead and would ensure that the BJP emerges victorious. The meeting was also attended by BJP general secretary Vijay Goel, vice-president Anita Arya, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi, MCD House leader Subhash Arya, MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta, and former Delhi BJP presidents Om Prakash Kohli and Mange Ram Garg. Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan accused the Congress of indulging in corruption and failing completely in solving the problems related to power and water. He charged that 25 lakh Below Poverty Line card holders were not getting any rations under the PDS. Dr. Vardhan also informed that the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, L.K. Advani, would be addressing the Delhi Vijay Sankalp Rally at V.P. House on Rafi Marg next Monday.
