Three fined for smoking
KRISHNAGIRI: Three people were fined Rs. 100 each for smoking in public places in Dharmapuri district. Smoking is banned in public places from Gandhi Jayanthi day by the Union Government.
Mr. Ayyanar, Deputy Director, Health Department, formed nine teams to check the smokers in public places, in which three people were caught red-handed and fined Rs. 100 each. Besides this, the team got letters from 60 people stating that they will not smoke in public places hereafter. The special teams checked 164 shops and warned them not to sell cigarettes and tobacco products.
In Krishnagiri district, the special team led by Ganesan, Deputy Director of Health Department, checked 300 petty shops and asked them not to sell cigarettes and tobacco products.
