Erode, Tiruchi make it to pre-quarterfinals

Tirupur: Erode and Tiruchi made it to the pre-quarterfinals in the boys’ section of the State sub-junior volleyball championship for boys and girls at the Angel College of Engineering and Technology courts here on Thursday.

The results: Boys: Group ‘A’: Nagapattinam bt Kanyakumari 25-19, 25-19; Kanyakumari bt Villupuram 25-17, 25-19.

Group ‘B’: Dharmapuri bt Namakkal 22-25, 25-20, 25-19; Kancheepuram bt Dharmapuri 26-24, 25-20.

Group ‘C’: Chennai bt Sivagangai 25-17, 25-21; Chennai bt Madurai 25-19, 20-25, 25-21.

Sivagangai triumphs

Sivagangai thrashed Tiruvallur 4-0 and emerged champion in the third State under-13 football championship for boys for the PHF GS Rolling Trophy at Udhagamandalam on Thursday.

The result: Final: Sivagangai 4 (Manikandan, K. Raja 2, Solamalai) bt Tiruvallur 0.
