Peace march by Christians

NEW DELHI: Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Thursday assured the Christian community that he would raise the issue of continued attacks on them at the Cabinet meeting and see to it that adequate measures were taken to contain the violence.

He was addressing a peace march by the Christians of Delhi and the National Capital Region at Jantar Mantar here on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

“Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has just returned from a foreign tour. I will apprise him of your sentiments at the Cabinet meeting. I will also request him to visit the places of attacks himself or send a delegation,” said Mr. Prasad, adding that he would also take up issue of anti-Christian violence in Parliament.

Slams BJP

Blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Sangh Parivar for creating communal tension in the country, the Union Minister said the Bajrang Dal was sullying the name of “Bajrangbali.” “These people have nothing to do with Ram or Rahim ,” said Mr. Prasad.
