Centre blamed for fertilizer shortage

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: S.A. Ravindranath, Agriculture Minister, and Siddeshwar, Davangere MP and vice-president of the State BJP, have blamed the Congress-led UPA Government for the fertilizer shortage in the State.

They noted that soon after taking charge as Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa had apprised the Union Government about the short supply of fertilizer and had appealed to it to supply sufficient quantities to the State immediately, but the Union Government failed to initiate any steps in this regard.

Talking to presspersons here on Thursday, the leaders said had the Centre heeded to the State’s request there would not have been agitation by farmers.

Mr. Siddeshwar alleged that the Centre failed to proper steps on the State’s request to bring a bad name to the BJP Government.
