Congress questions Advani’s ‘ securalism’

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Congress has expressed surprise over the statement of the Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani, stating that he was a secular person suggesting that he was in the habit of taking a position as per the places he visits.

“Just see where he said this, in Shillong where Christians are present in substantial numbers. He becomes pro-Church in Meghalaya and when he visited Pakistan, he became pro-Jinnah. These reflect his mentality ,” party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said. He said Mr, Advani had started on the path of communal politics in late 1980s that resulted in a series of riots; and is also an accused in the Babri Masjid Demolition case, he said adding that such a person is declaring himself secular.
