‘Livelihood’ workshop for fishermen

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The State Unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will organise a ‘Livelihood’ workshop for fishermen of Tamil Nadu in Rameswaram on Friday.

Talking to reporters about the programme, the party’s State president, L. Ganesan, said though the Central government claimed that Navy was patrolling along the international maritime boundary, still the fishermen were attacked and killed. To protect the rights and lives of fishermen, the workshop was being organised, he said.

When the post-tsunami rehabilitation work was taken up in Sri Lanka, many organisations including Red Cross were denied permission to distribute medical and other aid to the affected people.
