RTC to introduce 129 more trips

HYDERABAD: With pressure mounting from all fronts to augment bus services connecting professional colleges located on city outskirts, RTC on Wednesday declared that 129 new trips would be introduced with immediate effect.

Apart from that, another 1,094 trips on high density routes in suburban area have also been introduced, RTC officials said.

From now on, between 7 and 10 a.m. and 3 and 6 p.m., 129 additional trips would transport students to and from the engineering and other professional colleges, informed Executive Director RTC Hyderabad City Zone P.V.D. Jayasanker Prasad.

Mr. Prasad informed mediapersons that the routes for the 129 trips were arrived at after a thorough study of usage pattern of the bus services. “We have requested the education department to sit with the managements of all colleges and chalk out staggered timings of colleges. This will enable us to ferry more students,” says Mr. Prasad. In the high density routes, RTC officials informed that they have introduced 1,094 trips (561 trips in city and 536 trips in suburban routes).

“We are going to add 200 more buses, out of which 140 would be metro liners, in the near future,” Mr. Jayasanker said.

Section wise break-up

Uppal-Ghatkesar-Edulabad-Bibinagar section will have 30 trips, L. B. Nagar-Kothagudem will have 16 trips, L. B. Nagar cross roads-Ibrahimpatnam will now have 22 trips, Mehdipatnam-Moinabad now has 19 trips, Hayathnagar-Ibrahimpatnam via Vanasthalipuram and B.N. Reddy colony has 4 trips, Women’s College-Nadergul 2, Chandrayangutta-Kandukur 4 trips, ECIL cross roads-Bogarum-Turkapally-Ghatkesar- 12 trips, Balanagar-Gandimysamma 8 trips, Miyapur-Gandimysamma-Balanaagr-4 trips and Bachupally-Kompally-

Secunderabad will now have 8 trips.
