Better cardiac facility at Gandhi Hospital

HYDERABAD: Gandhi Hospital will be able to conduct over 1,000 cardiac surgeries a year. Thanks to the Arogyasri scheme, construction of three state-of-the-art operation theatres is complete, the inauguration of which will be done by the Chief Minister on Thursday.

Surgeons’ contribution

Interestingly, the cardio-thoracic team of surgeons from the hospital has contributed from their pockets nearly Rs. 5 lakh by waiving-off their incentives to equip the operation theatres with necessary tools. Over Rs. 2 crore was spent for the construction of the new cardiac operation theatres.

Speaking to media persons on Wednesday Superintendent of the hospital B. Balraju said that the government had spent an additional Rs. 75 lakh to purchase high-end equipment for neurology department.

“The neurology wards have been spruced up and the department would be able to function fully up to its potential,” Dr. Balraju said.

The new cardiology wing will function 24 hours.
