Manipal: The Manipal Institute of Technology, a constituent of Manipal University, will organise the second Model United Nations (MUN) summit here from October 2 to 5. The first MUN summit was held in 2007. A press release issued by convener of MUN Directorate Yashwant Lodha here on Tuesday stated that 220 student delegates from 100 colleges will participate in the MUN. The MUN aims at improving the knowledge of the participants on the issues debated at the United Nations. The participants at the MUN will don the role of foreign diplomats and participate in the sessions. They were assigned the countries that they will represent 10 days ago. They then researched extensively so that they will be able to deal with international issues from that country’s perspective. Home Minister V.S. Acharya, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) A.M. Prasad, Chancellor of Manipal University T. Ramdas Pai, and Pro-Chancellor H.S. Ballal will be the guests at the inaugural function, the release added.
