Gandhi Jayanti fete

KOCHI: Gandhi Jayanti celebrations jointly organised by the District Information and Public Relations Department and the Kochi Gandhi Bhavan Committee will begin here on Thursday.

Celebrations will get off to a start with the garlanding of the Gandhi statue at Gandhi Bhavan, Kacheripady, at 9.30 a.m. District Collector M. Beena will deliver the keynote address at a Gandhi Jayanti meet that will follow. Gandhi Peace Foundation chairperson K. Sarojam will preside over the function.

Fukuoka Day will be observed at Gandhi Bhavan on October 8. A workshop on Hind Swaraj will be held on October 10 and 11. M.P. Mathai will deliver the keynote address on ‘Democracy, politics, corruption and violence’.

A workshop on Gandhidarshan on October 17 will mark the end of the programmes. A seminar on ‘Hinddarshan – a revisit’ will also be held on the same day.

Study classes on Gandhidarshan will be conducted in schools throughout these days.
