Nassir in lead

NEW DELHI: Nassir Wajih defeated D.K. Chopra with black pieces and led with five points after five rounds in the inter-ministry chess tournament, organised by the Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board, at the Nirman Bhawan Hall here.

The results (fifth round): D.K. Chopra (4) lost to Nassir Wajih (5); Rajeev Vamdev (4.5) drew with P. Chakrapani (4); Manish Vats (4.5) bt Rajesh Kumar (3); Uday Kumar Mishra (3) lost to Sunil Prabhat (4); K.K. Malhotra (3.5) drew with Sanjay Khurana (3.5); S.M. Srivastava (3) lost to Pradeep Kumar (4).

Satbir Singh (3) lost to J.M. Baisakh (4); S.P. Mahato (4) bt A.K. Sinha (3); J.P. Srivastava (4) bt T.S. Sodhi (3); A.K. Kalshyan (4) bt Vivek Mishra (3); U.P. Choudhary (3.5) bt Ashish Yadav (2.5).

Ajay Bhardwaj (2.5) lost to Khakai Zou (3.5); Raman Kumar (3.5) bt Dinesh Kochhar (2.5); R.S. Ohlan (3) bt Sanjay Gupta (2); Lalit Kumar (2.5) drew with Rajeev Kumar (2.5); Bhupender Singh (2) lost to P.C. Jha (3).
