Dalbir is champion
BANGALORE: West Bengal and tenpin bowling had a surprise winner in Dalbir Singh who staved off a late resurgence from National champion Vijay Punjabi to win the Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Association (KSTBA) league at the Star City Centre here with an overall average of 199.04 in 26 games. Punjabi finished with an average of 195.50, while Hunaid Khokar closed in at 194.69 and Girish gaba ended fourth with 191.35 pinfalls.
The corresponding title in the women’s section was won by Pratima Hegde of Karnataka who avenged her defeat at the hands of Sumati Nallanatu of Andhra Pradesh in the Nationals, also at the same venue. Pratima averaged 183.50 points in 26 games.
She showed great consistency to average over 200 in the final eight games to outscore Sumati by 306 pins and Judy Alban by 469 pins. Prize money worth Rs. 50,000 was given to the top finishers in both categories. — Special Correspondent
