Tirupur: Nagapattinam boys and Coimbatore girls opened their campaign with relatively easy wins in the Sub-junior State volleyball championship, which got underway at the Angel College of Engineering and Technology courts here on Wednesday. Nagapattinam ousted Villupuram 25-8, 25-15 and Coimbatore dispatched Thiruvallur 25-13, 25-8. The results: Boys: Group A: Nagapattinam bt Villupuram 25-8, 25-15. Group B: Kancheepuram bt Namakkal 25-15, 25-11. Group C: Madurai bt Sivagangai 25-18, 17-25, 25-14. Group D: Thiruvarur bt Thiruvallur 25-12, 23-25, 25-10. Girls: Group A: Coimbatore bt Thiruvallur 25-13, 25-8, Erode bt Madurai 25-9, 25-15. Group C: Nagapattinam bt Salem 25-19, 22-25, 25-16. Tiruvallur in finalTiruvallur edged out Kanyakumari 4-3 in the semifinals of the third State under-13 football championship for the PHF G.S. Rolling Trophy at the HADP Open Air Stadium in Udhagamandalam on Wednesday. Tiruvallur will now lock horns with Sivagangai, which ousted Kancheepuram 3-0 in the final. The results: Semifinals: Tiruvallur 4 bt Kanyakumari 3, Sivagangai 3 bt Kancheepuram 0. Mani HSS enters finalMani HSS (Coimbatore) and Modern SSS (Kancheepuram) entered the final of the TNCA Under-16 Inter-District Schools Cricket Tournament in Tiruchi on Wendnesday.
